BYLAWS OF LONE STAR LODGE 2208

 

INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF MACHINISTS AND AEROSPACE WORKERS

 

ARTICLE I

 

PURPOSE AND OBJECT

 

To secure mutual protection, harmonious action, and close cooperation in all matters relating to the industry, working conditions and standards affecting the membership employed by any company represented by this Local Lodge; furthermore, to consider problems of state, national and international significance insofar as they affect organized labor.

 

ARTICLE II

 

NAME AND MEETINGS

 

Section 1.                    This Local Lodge shall be known as Lone Star Lodge No. 2208, International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, affiliated with the AFL-CIO.

 

Section 2.                    The regular meeting of this Lodge shall be held at 4:30 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month at the Lone Star Lodge 2208 Hall located at 1954 Bedford Road, Bedford, Texas, except when the meeting date falls on a generally recognized holiday or on a National, State or Local election day, in which event a substitute day of meeting may be set at the preceding meeting.

 

                                   (1)          The Executive Board meeting shall be held at the Lone Star Lodge 2208 Hall on the day of the regular monthly meeting.

 

                                   (2)          Any changes to the above shall be posted by bulletin in each shop or bargaining unit, in a place that Union notices are normally posted, fifteen (15) days prior to the regular scheduled meeting date or the alternate meeting date, whichever comes first.

 

Section 3.                   The requirements for a quorum shall be in accordance with the IAM Constitution.  No meeting, regular or special, shall be called to order unless a quorum is present.

 

Section 4.                     In the event a meeting is called to order and a quorum should not be present, the presiding officer shall order the regular bills paid and adjourn the meeting for lack of quorum.

 

Section 5.                    Special meetings may be called by written request of ten percent (10%) of members in good standing.

 

Section 6.                    In emergencies, the Local Lodge President, or in his absence, the Vice President, shall have the authority to call a special membership meeting.

 

Section 7.                    All meetings, regular or special, shall be posted at least seventy-two (72) hours before the meeting except in extreme emergencies.

 

ARTICLE III

 

MEMBERSHIP

(In accordance with the IAM Constitution)

 

Section 1.                    The initiation fee of the Lodge shall be an amount equal to one (1) times the new member's monthly dues amount at the time of initiation.

 

                                   The reinstatement fee for this Lodge shall be an amount equal to one (1) times the returning member's monthly dues amount at the time of reinstatement when not accompanied with an honorary withdrawal card.

 

Section 2.                   The Lodge will pay the unemployment dues for those member's who so qualify for an unemployment stamp, as long as the member meets the requirements of the IAMAW Constitution.  The maximum number of months the Lodge will pay the unemployment dues of its members will be limited to six (6) months of unemployment dues.

 

Section 3.                    The monthly dues of the members of this Lodge shall be equal to two (2) times the weighted average hourly earnings of the members employed in the membership classification and covered by the collective bargaining agreements under the Local Lodge jurisdiction in accordance with the IAM Constitution, plus $1.10.

 

                                   Any raise in the per capita by the Grand Lodge or District Lodge or any other body the Local Lodge is affiliated with, shall be added to the minimum rate of dues.  Members who are salaried shall have their hourly base rate established by dividing their monthly salary by 173.33 and multiplied 2.

 

                                   Any amounts above this ill be voted on for approval by the membership at the October Lodge meeting.

 

Section 4.                     All applications for membership in this Local Lodge shall be made up the blank form provided for that purpose, and may be secured from any Officer or Steward of this Local Lodge.  When properly filled out and signed, they shall be given to the Secretary-Treasurer.

 

ARTICLE IV

 

NOMINATIONS/ELECTIONS/APPOINTMENTS OF

OFFICERS, COMMITTEES AND AFL-CIO DELEGATES (2)

 

Section 1.                    The Officers of this Local Lodge shall consist of a President, Vice President, Secretary-Treasurer, Recording Secretary, Conductor/Sentinel and three (3) Trustees, each elected for a term of three (3) years, in accordance with the IAM Constitution.  These Officers shall comprise the Local Lodge Executive Board.

 

                                    (a)     Nominations of Officers of the Local Lodge, as defined above, shall be held during the regular meeting in September of the year elections of Officers are required.

 

                                    (b)     To be eligible to run for an officer position, members must meet the following requirements.

 

                                              a.     Members must have been working at the trade during the six (6) month period prior to the nominations meeting (members who are retired on pension and paying full dues may run for the office without regard to the "working at the trade" requirement.)

 

                                               b.     Members must be in good standing for at least one (1) year at the time of nomination in accordance with the IAM Constitution.

 

                                              c.     Members must have attended at least 50% of the monthly Local Lodge regular meetings in the previous 12 months.

 

                                               d.     All nominations must be made from the floor by a member in good standing.  Members may nominate themselves.  Nominations may not be submitted in writing.
